Recordings Captured in Goldcast

What is an HD (local) recording?

An HD (local) recording means that the video, audio, and screenshare from your speakers are captured on their computer directly in their browser storage, then uploaded back to Goldcast.

This ensures a high-quality recording, since it doesnʼt rely on internet connection speeds.

Important: Make sure your speakers join from a supported browser (Chrome) on a computer to ensure their local recordings are captured successfully.

Incognito mode, Safari, Firefox, and mobile devices are not supported at this time.

What is a standard (cloud) recording?

A standard (cloud) recording means that the video, audio, and screenshare from your speakers are captured via the internet. It can be subject to the strength of their internet connection, and may be of lower quality or choppy, depending on their connection.

Goldcast uses cloud-standard recordings as a backup in case the local HD recording isnʼt captured or processed fully.

What can I do if my speaker's local HD recording is stuck in “Uploading“?

Ask the speaker to reopen their recording magic link, using the same computer and browser they used during the recording session.

Your speakers' magic links are available in two locations: inside the Recording Studio and in the Goldcast Studio.

In the Recording Studio

  • In the bottom right corner of the Recording Studio, click the three dots next to the speaker's name.
  • Click Copy Magic Link.
  • Send the magic link to the speaker asking them to reopen their recording magic link, using the same computer and browser they used during the recording session.

In the Goldcast Studio

In the Recordings list

  • Open the recording record.
  • In the Recordings list, find the participant's name and click the arrow to the left.
  • Click the three dots next to their HD recording.
  • Click Copy Magic Link.

In the Participants section

  • Scroll to the Participants section on the Dashboard.
  • Hover over the user.
  • Click Copy Link.
  • Send the magic link to the speaker asking them to reopen their recording magic link, using the same computer and browser they used during the recording session.

They should see a message that says Upload complete. If not, they should keep the window open until the progress bar reaches 100% and they see the Upload complete message. Then they can safely close the window.

If they have completed their upload and you still see a processing state like in the screenshot below for over 2x the length of the original recording, contact support@goldcast.io for assistance.

What if I donʼt want to wait for the HD recordings to process?

You have two options:

Use standard recordings

Switch to all speakers' lower-quality recordings to edit immediately.

Warning! This action cannot be undone.

If your speakers complete their HD recording uploads after you switch to standard recordings, you'll be able to download the HD recording files for each speaker, but you wonʼt be able to edit them in Goldcast.

Use partial HD recordings

Goldcast can use any high-quality HD footage of each speaker that was successfully uploaded. Any uncaptured sections of the speakers will be missing from your recording. You can choose to edit out the speaker from these missing sections entirely.

For example:

Speaker 1: 100% complete
Speaker 2: 60% complete
Speaker 3: 100% complete

Warning! This action cannot be undone.
