Capacity Setting

A configuration that determines the maximum number of attendees allowed to register for an event. Once reached, new registrants may be placed on a waitlist.

Captions

AI-generated, real-time text displayed on-screen during sessions to improve accessibility. Supported languages include English, German, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, Dutch, and Portuguese.

Caption Translation

Caption Translation allows you to automatically translate generated captions into multiple languages. This improves accessibility for global audiences and ensures that content can be consumed across regions without manual subtitle creation.

Check-in

The process of validating attendee entry at an in-person event. Attendees present a unique QR code from their confirmation email, which staff scan to mark attendance and distribute event materials.

Check-in Staff

A user role in Goldcast designated for on-site event support. Check-in staff are typically responsible for managing attendee check-ins and admissions for events (especially hybrid or in-person events). Once a user is added as check-in staff (or any other role like organizer, speaker, sponsor, etc.) in Goldcast, their role email cannot be changed. Their profiles are created in Program → Check-in Staff.

Clips

Clips are short video segments created from longer recordings. Content Lab automatically generates highlight clips when you upload a video, but you can also create custom clips manually by trimming the timeline or selecting transcript text. Clips can be edited further with styling options such as captions, layouts, and branding to make them ready for sharing across platforms.

Clip Customizer

The toolbar that is present on the right-hand side when editing a clip. Use the Clip Customizer to adjust clip settings and styling (for example, captions, aspect ratio, brand elements) to refine your video clip. This panel is visible whenever a clip is selected for editing.

Clip Editor

An interface in Content Lab where users can trim, merge, add text, and adjust the start/end times of automatically generated clips.

Clip Extension

Clip extension expands the visible portion of a clip by dragging its edges on the editing timeline. This is useful when you want to include more context or lengthen a highlight.

Clip Trimming

Clip trimming is the process of shortening or lengthening a video clip by adjusting its start and end points. This allows you to focus only on the most relevant parts of the recording while removing unnecessary content.

Cloud Recording

Also known as a standard recording, this is the recording of a session captured via the internet/cloud in real time. Cloud recordings may be lower quality or occasionally choppy if a speaker’s connection is weak. Goldcast always generates a cloud recording as a backup in case the Local HD Recording fails. Example: If a speaker has a poor network during an event, the cloud recording might have reduced quality, but it ensures the session is still captured.

Content Lab

Goldcast’s AI-powered video repurposing tool that automatically generates post-event assets from your event recordings. Content Lab can produce outputs like full-session recordings, short highlight clips, multimodal social media posts, blog articles, emails, and more, all within about 90 minutes after an event. Example: After our virtual summit, we used Content Lab to create bite-sized video snippets and draft blog posts from the keynote session recording.

Colors (Brand Kit)

Custom brand colors saved in the Brand Kit for use in video clip design (for example, background colors, overlays).

Content Lab Editor

A specialized Goldcast Studio role (sometimes called Content Lab Contributor) for users who work with Content Lab assets but don’t manage events. A Content Lab Editor can access, edit, and download all video content in the Content Lab (across all teams) but cannot create events or manage live event settings. Example: A content marketer with this role can log into Goldcast to pull clips and social copy from past event recordings in Content Lab, without needing permissions to edit the events themselves.

Content Seats

Special seats added as an add-on to pricing plans, giving users editing access to Content Lab only. These users can generate, edit, and share clips and content but cannot modify events, series, or templates.

Coordinator

An Event Space user role at the session level, similar to a speaker but without on-stage visibility. Coordinators have backstage access during live sessions to manage Q&A, polls, or assist speakers, but they cannot appear on stage on video. This role is ideal for moderators or support staff who help run the event behind the scenes. Example: A coordinator monitors audience questions and technical issues backstage, feeding important questions to the presenter without ever appearing on the live stage.

Cross-Event Reporting

A built-in analytics dashboard in Goldcast that aggregates data across multiple events. The Cross-Event Reporting dashboard gives organizers a comprehensive view of critical metrics spanning all their events (e.g. total registrations, attendance rates, engagement). This helps identify trends and compare performance across events in one place.

CRM (Customer Relationship Management)

A system or software that manages a company’s interactions with current and potential customers. In the Goldcast context, CRM typically refers to platforms like Salesforce that can integrate with Goldcast to push and pull event data. Goldcast’s integration guides often mention syncing data to connected CRMs (e.g. Salesforce) and MAPs.

CSM (Customer Success Manager)

A Goldcast representative assigned to help customers with platform adoption, pricing discussions, and maximizing event ROI.

Custom Background

A custom background is a static or branded image placed behind your video content. This feature helps add visual polish, reinforce brand identity, or replace plain backgrounds with something more engaging.

Custom Branding

Options within event setup that allow teams to apply logos, brand colors, and visual themes so that registration pages, emails, and event environments match organizational identity.

Custom Domain

An optional setup that allows events to be hosted under a branded web address (for example, events.company.com) instead of a default Goldcast URL.

Custom Field Mapping

An integration feature that lets you map event-specific custom registration fields from Goldcast to fields in connected CRMs or MAPs. Unlike standard field mapping (organization-level), custom field mapping is done per event to sync additional data points collected via custom form fields.
Example: If you add a custom field Referral Source on a Goldcast event registration form, you can use custom field mapping to send that field’s values to a Referral Source field in Salesforce for each registrant.

Custom Reporting

An advanced reporting feature that lets you create customized reports by selecting specific data points across all events. If Goldcast’s standard dashboards (like Cross-Event or ROI) don’t meet your needs, Custom Reporting allows in-depth, tailored insights. Powered by a BI tool (ThoughtSpot), it enables filtering, editing, and visualizing event data to build reports and liveboards suited to your requirements. For example, you can choose particular attendee actions, apply filters, and save the report for ongoing analysis in Studio.

Custom Roles

A Goldcast Studio feature that lets organization admins design and assign custom user roles with tailored permissions beyond the default roles. Admins can create new roles and choose exactly what actions those roles can perform (e.g. manage users, delete events, view reports). This provides granular control and flexibility for governance. Example: A company creates a custom “Analytics Viewer” role that allows certain users to view event analytics reports without giving them rights to edit or host events – ensuring each team member has “just the right level of access” for their job.

Custom Tab

The Custom section is where you can direct Content Lab to generate any type of written content you need. By entering your own prompt, you can guide the AI to create specialized outputs such as press releases, speeches, FAQs, or tailored marketing copy. This feature gives you maximum flexibility beyond the predefined formats of blogs, emails, social posts, and takeaways.
