Scene Changes
Scene Changes are edits that let you control which speakers, screenshares, or tracks appear at specific points in a recording. By adding or removing scenes, you can highlight different presenters, switch focus, or simplify the content flow, creating a more dynamic and engaging video.
Seat Type
A designation for user licenses in Goldcast:
- Platform – Full Goldcast Studio access.
- Content – Limited to Content Lab only. When set to Content, the Role defaults to Content Lab Editor.
Series
A collection of multiple Goldcast events (webinars, virtual, in-person, or hybrid) grouped together and treated as a unified program. The series feature allows attendees to register once for several related events at the same time using a single registration form. Example: The marketing team created a Series of weekly product training webinars so participants could sign up for all sessions with one registration.
Session
An individual segment of an event agenda in Goldcast. A Session could be a keynote talk, a panel discussion, a breakout workshop, and so on – each session has its own title, time slot, and set of presenters. Sessions can be live (with real-time presenters and audience), pre-recorded (content is recorded in advance but scheduled like a live session), or on-demand (available for playback at any time). Attendee actions and attendance are tracked per session (for example, Goldcast notes if someone “Attended Session X”). Example: The virtual summit was organized into multiple Sessions – attendees first joined the live keynote session, then chose one of three breakout sessions, and later watched an on-demand product demo session at their leisure.
Session Redirection
An event setting that controls how attendees move from one session to another. Goldcast supports manual redirection, where organizers or speakers end a session and instruct attendees to click into the next one, and automatic redirection, where the platform automatically pushes attendees into the next scheduled session when one ends. Organizers choose a session redirection strategy to ensure attendees seamlessly transition (especially in multi-session events like conferences). For example, with automatic redirection, when a keynote ends, all attendees might be auto-routed to the next session (for example, a breakout or the closing remarks) without needing to navigate.
Sharing
The ability to distribute finalized clips through links or embedded players, enabling easy posting across social media and other channels.
Share Button (Export)
The button on the top-right of Content Lab used to export or download content.
Shared Page
A Shared Page is an event page in Goldcast that isn’t tied to a single team workspace, making its content visible across the whole organization. Shared pages can list events from any team and serve as a centralized hub for multiple teams’ events. Only organization admins can edit a shared page, though team admins are able to view it. Example: The company’s main events portal is a shared page showing all upcoming Goldcast events from Marketing, HR, and Sales in one place, and only the org admin can modify its layout.
Shared Template
A Shared Template is an event template in Goldcast that is not assigned to any specific team workspace, meaning it’s available for use by all teams in the organization. Only organization admins can edit a shared template’s design or settings, but both org admins and team admins can use it as the basis for creating new events. Example: Goldcast provides a shared template with the company’s standard branding – any team admin can use this template to quickly create a new event that adheres to the company-wide style guide, but only the org admin can change the template’s logo or theme.
Short Video Clip
A condensed segment of a longer recording, automatically or manually generated, typically designed for quick viewing and sharing.
Simulive
A hybrid of “simulated” and “live,” referring to a pre-recorded session that is broadcast as if it were live. In Goldcast, Simulive sessions allow organizers to schedule pre-recorded video content to play at a set time during an event, giving attendees the experience of a live session without the presenters actually broadcasting in real-time. Goldcast supports simulive sessions (often listed alongside on-demand content) under pre-recorded event types. This is useful for scaling events or ensuring flawless delivery of content by pre-recording it, while still engaging viewers at a scheduled time.
Single-Session Event
An event consisting of just one primary session in its agenda (often with a fixed duration). Single-session events are ideal for simpler use cases like webinars, one-off virtual meetings, or talks. When created, a single-session event automatically generates one session in the agenda (with the same date/time as the event) and can still include engagement features, Rooms, and Booths as needed. Example: A 45-minute product demo webinar is set up as a Single-session Event. It has one session for the demo and Q&A, and all attendees stay in that same virtual room for the entire event. (Note: In Goldcast, “single-session events” have essentially replaced the old webinar format, and you can even convert a single-session event to multi-session if requirements change.).
Single Sign-On (SSO) Login
An authentication feature that allows Goldcast Studio users to log in using their organization’s Identity Provider (IdP) credentials. With SSO enabled, team members can access Goldcast via a company login portal (for example, Okta, Azure AD) without needing separate Goldcast usernames or passwords, streamlining and securing the login process.
Example: After Goldcast is configured for Single Sign-On, employees at Acme Corp simply click the Goldcast tile on their Okta dashboard. They are then automatically logged into Goldcast Studio through SSO, using their corporate credentials.
Smart Event Technology (Smart Webinar)
A webinar type that automatically generates AI-powered post-event content (clips, social posts, takeaways) and hosts it on a standalone on-demand page.
Smart Webinar
A webinar in Goldcast that leverages Smart Event Technology to enhance the post-event experience. In a Smart Webinar, the platform automatically generates various assets (video clips, social posts, summary points, and so on) shortly after the live session, saving organizers time on post-production. For example, the marketing team ran their product demo as a Smart Webinar – within an hour of broadcast, Goldcast had generated a highlight reel, a set of takeaway bullet points, and a transcript ready for them to review and publish
Social Tab
Short-form social content derived from your video. By default, Content Lab creates three Social posts (with text and a video clip) for each video under the Social tab. You can edit the provided posts or click Generate Social Post to create more. These are great for LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and so on, featuring a teaser clip and caption text.
Speaker
A session role in the Event Space for presenters who appear on-stage during the event. Speakers have backstage access to the specific sessions they are assigned to, and when the session is live they can share their audio/video on the event stage. They typically deliver talks or presentations on camera. Speakers cannot control the entire event (like a producer can), and their access is limited to their sessions. Example: A guest Speaker at a virtual summit joins the session backstage 10 minutes early. The Producer then brings the Speaker on stage at the scheduled time, and the Speaker presents to the audience via video. Once done, the Speaker leaves the stage and does not have access to other sessions where they’re not added.
Speaker Labels
Speaker labels are editable fields where you can enter information such as a speaker’s name, title, company, or pronouns. Adding this context makes content more professional and easier to follow.
Speaker Layouts
Preset arrangements for displaying multiple speakers on stage (for example, grid, spotlight). Organizers can switch layouts depending on event flow.
Speaker Tile
The video box showing each speaker on stage. Tiles can be resized or arranged differently depending on the chosen layout.
Sponsor
A role or designation for companies or individuals who sponsor a Goldcast event. Sponsors usually are not presenters, but they may be featured with logos or given virtual booth space and branding opportunities during an event. In Goldcast, you can add a user (often representing a sponsor organization) as a sponsor role for an event. Once added as a sponsor (or any other user type) in Goldcast, certain attributes, like their email, are fixed for that user account. Sponsors benefit from exposure to attendees, and the platform may provide specific sponsor analytics or lead data if applicable.
Stage (Live Stage)
The live broadcast area where speakers, content, and engagement tools appear to attendees. Only speakers moved to the stage by organizers are visible.
Stage Controls
Organizer tools for managing the event stage, including adding/removing speakers, switching layouts, muting, launching polls, and sharing content.
Standard Field Mapping
The default field mappings between Goldcast and integrated CRM/marketing systems that apply across the entire organization. Standard field mapping typically covers common fields (name, email, company, and so on) and is configured at the organization level in Goldcast. This means the mapping is set up once for the whole org (not per event) – for example, mapping Goldcast’s standard registration fields to fields in Salesforce or Marketo globally. Custom field mapping, by contrast, is done per event. Essentially, standard field mappings handle the regular data points for all events, whereas custom mappings let you extend or override these on individual events.
Starter Plan
The entry-level Goldcast pricing plan for organizations just beginning with the platform or running occasional events. The Starter plan includes a smaller number of user seats and basic functionality to host events. For example, it comes with 3 organizer (Studio user) accounts out of the box. It does not include advanced add-ons like multiple team workspaces (Starter is typically for a single team usage). Example: A small business on the Starter plan gets up to 3 team members set up as Goldcast Studio users to run webinars. As their event program grows, they might consider upgrading to Pro or Premium for more users and features.
Subtitles
Text translation of spoken content into a different language, enhancing multilingual accessibility.
Subscription Plan
A tiered pricing structure (Free, Essentials, Starter, Pro, Premium, Enterprise) that determines feature availability, including the number of supported voice profiles and access to Content Lab.
Support Ticket
A request submitted to Goldcast Support (support@goldcast.io) for issues such as email changes, password resets, or file format assistance.
Surveys
Post-event or in-event feedback forms that organizers can launch to collect attendee input. Surveys differ from polls by being more structured and often longer, with multiple questions.
Swag Distribution
The process of handing out branded merchandise, kits, or giveaways to attendees during check-in or at designated event booths.
Sync Changes
A function in Goldcast’s repeating events feature that lets you apply updates from the blueprint event to all its future occurrences. After editing details in a repeating event’s blueprint (master copy), the organizer can click Sync Changes to propagate those edits to every upcoming child event in that series. This ensures consistency across all instances. Example: If you change the start time or add a new speaker in the blueprint of a repeating event, using Sync Changes will update the start time or speaker info for all the scheduled occurrences, saving you from editing each one individually.
