Introduction
Content Lab offers video editors a powerful way to apply pre-designed, visually engaging caption styles across video content—without manually formatting each instance. These enhancements improve both the consistency and visual appeal of captions by using animation, customization options, and adaptive layout controls.
Step-by-Step Guide
These sections guide you through the different editing options available for captions in the Content Lab:
Captions Editing Menu
Go to the Content Lab module, click Show all, and select the video you want to edit.
Note: To style captions for clips, navigate to the Clips section and follow the similar steps outlined in the sections below.

- Click Captions on the customizer menu to the right of the video.
- Turn on the toggle to enable the captions.
- Select your preferred caption style preset from the styles available.
Next, click the caption on the video clip to highlight the editing menu.

Adjust the Bounding Box Surface Area
As soon as you click on the captions, a box appears around the captions, clearly outlining the surface area the caption occupies on the screen. Once the caption box is visible, you can drag the edges or corners to adjust the surface area.

Position
To change the caption's position, drag and place it anywhere on your video.

Typography

- Use Words dropdown to quickly control how many lines of text your captions must display.
- Use the Font dropdown to change the font typeface.
- Use the Color picker to change the caption's main text color.
- Drag the Size handle to adjust the font size of captions.
- Toggle between sentence case and capitals using the Uppercase option.
Outline
To enable captions with an outline, turn on the toggle. Then, drag the handle to adjust the outline's Width and use the Color picker to change its color.

Shadow
Adding a Shadow behind your caption text improves readability and creates a subtle visual lift, helping the captions blend less with the background. The following are the steps to add a shadow:

- Toggle the Shadow switch ON.
- Adjust the following:
- Blur – Controls how soft or sharp the shadow appears.
- Color – Choose any shadow color using the color picker.
- Opacity – Use the slider to set transparency, from subtle (10–30%) to bold (100%).
Highlight
Highlight makes it easier for viewers to follow along, especially when captions are fast-moving or overlay complex visuals. The following are the steps to highlight captions:

- Select Highlight Mode. For example, Box.
- Adjust the following:
- Size – Controls how much padding the box has around the text.
- Color – Pick from the color palette or input your own hex code.
Background
Background color fills are essential for keeping captions readable across various video scenes—whether you're overlaying bright slides, dark interfaces, or busy visuals. The following are the steps to add background to captions:

- Toggle the Background switch ON.
- Configure the background using the options below:
- Color – Choose a custom hex code or select from the palette.
- Opacity – Use the slider to adjust the transparency or solidity of the background, ranging from 0% to 100%.
- Padding – Adjust the space between the caption text and the edges of the background box for added breathing room.
Animation Mode
Animation Mode brings your captions to life with subtle or dynamic motion effects, enhancing viewer engagement. Whether you're looking for a smooth fade or a lively bounce, Animation Mode helps guide the eye and emphasize delivery—word by word or slide by slide. The following are the steps to add animation:

- Choose your Mode:
- Per Slide – animates the entire caption block as one unit.
- Per Word – applies the animation to each word sequentially for added flair.
- Choose your Effect:
- None – no animation
- Fade In – a soft transition into view
- Slide Up – text slides upward into place
- Spring – playful bounce-in effect
