Content Lab: Delete Dead Space in Recording Studio Recordings

Learn how to effectively remove dead space in your recording studio recordings to improve audio quality and clarity.

Introduction

In the fast-paced world of content creation, efficiency and polish are everything. Whether you're sharing a keynote recording, an in-depth demo, or an engaging customer story, you want every second of your video to captivate your audience. However, recordings often contain “dead space” — those silent or idle moments where nothing valuable is happening.

With the new Delete Dead Space feature in Content Lab, you can easily trim out these unnecessary sections directly in your Recording Studio recordings and clips. By simply clicking and dragging on the timeline, you can select and remove any unwanted gaps, making your videos more concise and professional in just a few clicks.

This guide will walk you through exactly how to use this feature step by step, so you can deliver cleaner, more impactful video content without the hassle.

Step-by-Step Guide for Deleting Dead Space

What is Dead Space?

Dead space refers to any part of a recording where there is silence, no movement, or irrelevant content. For example, long pauses between speakers, empty screens during transitions, or sections where no meaningful interaction occurs. Removing dead space helps keep your videos engaging and focused.

The following are the steps for adding image overlays to Recording Studio recordings:

  1. Log in to the Goldcast Studio platform.
  2. Navigate to the Recordings module and choose the recording from which you want to delete dead space.
  3. Open the editing workspace by clicking Edit Video.
  4. Move to the timeline at the bottom of the editor. Click and drag to highlight the section that you want to remove. This highlighted section represents the dead space.
  5. Click on the trash icon to remove the selected section.

In this way, a dead space is successfully deleted from the Recording Studio recordings.

Note: The process for deleting dead space for Recording Studio Clips is identical to what’s described above — simply follow the same steps!
